At Name Place Animal Thing, we have never believed in being confined to one material, one style, or one way of thinking. What began as an idea rooted in experimentation has grown into a studio that constantly explores new forms, processes and materials. The name itself reflects that openness — Names, Places, Animals and Things — a reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere.
Our work blends functionality with playfulness. From the Habitat Collection to sculptural lighting pieces, every object is designed to spark a sense of curiosity and joy. Pieces like the Moose cabinet, Alpaca and Caterpillar forms, and the Mushroom Floor Lamp reflect our approach — balancing strong silhouettes with everyday usability.
The Mushroom Lamp embodies this philosophy most clearly. Inspired by organic forms found in nature, its dual-toned fabric and hand-finished detailing transform it into more than just a source of light. It becomes a sculptural presence within a room — soft, tactile and quietly expressive.

While the world of design continues to move toward minimalism, we approach simplicity differently. For us, minimal does not mean lifeless. It means intentional. It means creating objects that are refined yet playful, structured yet full of character.
At Name Place Animal Thing, design is an ongoing exploration. We continue to experiment with materials — from wood and fabric to steel, stone and beyond — always pushing our boundaries while staying rooted in craftsmanship and imagination.
