Name Place Animal Thing is a Mumbai-based company that specializes in furniture, lights, installations, and decor. We draw inspiration from people, places, animals, and all things that exist in the world around us. We cherish experimenting with materials, processes, and techniques, from new to natural to recycled, to create products with an element of intrigue or play. Our meticulously designed products are carefully crafted and manufactured in India. We like to call our products FUN-ctional, products that are both fun and functional at their core. Along with designing our own products, we collaborate with architects, interior designers & manufacturers on custom projects.

Priyam Doshi, Founder and Design Head of Name Place Animal Thing with sculptural furniture design

I’m a passionate designer with over 12+ years of experience in the design and development of lifestyle products - furniture, lights, decor & Spatial Installations.

I am an Alumnus of the National Institute of Design, Masters of Design - Lifestyle Accessory Design & D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering - DJSCOE (Mumbai University), Bachelor of Engineering - Production Technology.

I started Name Place Animal Thing after 10 years of solid experience at leading brands like JSW Living, Pepperfry.com, Future Group, Lemon Design, Josmo Studio & Freedom Tree and was awarded India’s most coveted EDIDA Award by Elle Decor for a bedroom collection that I designed in 2018.

I actively engage with the design community through guest lectures and talks at design and architectural schools. I look forward to working on new designs and building products/ solutions that are aesthetically refreshing, FUN-ctional, perfectly meet users’ needs and are intuitive to use.

OUR STORY

In 2008, prior to entering the design world, Priyam brainstormed names for a friend's label and fell in love with 'Name Place Animal Thing,' deciding to keep it for himself. Despite not being in design initially, he knew it would be the name for his future venture. As a young designer, Priyam realized that by using names, places, animals & things as inspiration he can design anything under the sun!
Always valuing versatility in his design process, the name felt even more apt.
After holding the name in his heart for 12 years, Priyam finally took the plunge, launching 'Name Place Animal Thing' in April 2020.
